By AP sports editor Brian StrausNBA star Dwyane Wade says the Public Record Act is the most important thing in the world.NBA players, as the players are known, have a right to a public record of their actions.
Wade says that’s why he’s not only signed the document, but has signed every one of the records he’s signed.
“This is what I have been saying for a long time,” Wade said in an interview with the AP.
“There’s a lot of records that we keep that nobody else is even talking about.
You’re not allowed to say what’s on them.”
He’s not alone in his dedication to public records.
In January, the NBA’s executive committee unanimously approved a rule to make public records available to any athlete, coach, player agent or agent-records administrator who asks for them.
Wadsworth says that the NBA is “going to be the biggest sports league in the United States.”
“I don’t think anybody in sports would say this would be the greatest sport, or the greatest league,” he said.
“But I do believe in this right now.
I don’t know how to explain it other than that we have to do it.”
Wade, who recently announced he is retiring after 20 seasons, is among the NBA players who have signed every public record that’s been made public in the past two years.
The league said it had made some of those records public for the first time this week.
Wadiwens name and photo appeared in the records of two NBA players, including NBA legend David Robinson, who retired last year.
Robinson and Wade also signed the records, according to the NBA.
Wades’ public record includes a tweet in January where he said he was going to be at the Oscars, which he didn’t attend.
